About Us
The Vietnamese Association of Nova Scotia (VietNS) was founded in 1980 when the first waves of Vietnamese immigrants arrived in Nova Scotia after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Now, more than twenty-five years later, we constitute not only the original "boat people" but extended family members and immigrants from other provinces who have chosen the Maritimes as their home. As a non-profit organization we depend on volunteers who dedicate their time and effort in sharing their knowledge and experiences, with the goal of preserving and promoting the Vietnamese culture.
Our Mandate
- To provide an opportunity for Vietnamese Nova Scotians of all age groups to participate in activities involving the Vietnamese community.
- To preserve and promote the Vietnamese culture to the younger generation.
- To bring prominence to the Vietnamese Association of Nova Scotia by interacting with other communities and multicultural groups.
