Nov10/09 - We would like to thank everyone for helping out with the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and for bringing all those yummy dishes. A special thank-you goes out to Co Thuy for organizing and getting the kids ready for the performances. It was wonderful to witness the students' achievements as seen in the new photos added to the gallery. Also new to the gallery are photos of the Family Retreat, another huge success thanks to all the volunteers who helped with cooking, cleaning, campfires, and other activities.

Nov1/09 - Nhân được tin buồn Bà Trần Thị Phấn thân mẫu của Chị Trần Thị Hường và Anh Nguyễn Ngọc Thiên vừa qua đời tại thị xã Bến Tre, Việt Nam vào ngày 29 tháng 10 năm 2009, hưởng thọ 70 tuổi. Hội Người Việt Nova Scotia xin thành thực chia buồn cùng gia đình và tang quyến. Cầu chúc hương hồn Bà sớm an vui miền tiên cảnh.
Our sincerest condolences to Mrs. Trần Thị Hường and her family on the death of her mother, Mrs. Trần Thị Phấn, who passed away at the age of 70, on October 29, 2009 in Bến Tre, Việt Nam. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

Sep24/09 - Vietnamese Language Classes will be held on Sunday Oct 4th from 2-4pm. Students will remain behind to prepare for the Harvest Moon Festival which is from 5-8pm at St. Andrew's Community Center. All are invited to join us for a potluck supper and view a slideshow of the recent family retreat. Following will be a fashion show, talent contest, lantern contest & parade, draws and prizes. Please contact us asap if you have kids who want to participate in any of the performances. Hope to see you all there!


Sep22/09 - Nhân được tin buồn thân phụ của Chị Trần Thị Nguyệt Bạch và Anh Linh Minh Sơn thành viên Ban Chấp Hành Hội là cụ ông Trần Văn Kiệm đã mệnh chung vào ngày mùng 2 tháng 8 năm 2009 Âm lịch tại Trà Vinh, tỉnh Vĩnh Bình, Việt Nam. Hưởng thọ 98 tuổi. Xin thành kính phân ưu cùng tang quyến, nguyện xin tam bảo gia hộ hưong linh cụ ông sớm an vui cực lạc Quốc.

Sep11/09 - Vietnamese Language and Tai Chi classes will resume on Sunday September 13 from 2pm-4pm at St Andrews Recreation Centre.

Aug22/09 - Our first Family Retreat was such a success that we've decided to host another one - this time at Camp Kidston in Middle Musquodoboit. The camp overlooks Long Lake for swimming and canoeing, a playing field, trails for nature walks and the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet of a private country setting. There are is a huge lodge for eating and entertainment, five cabins that will fit a total of 90 people, and a more luxurious lodge with 6 private bedrooms for our senior community members. Register early to reserve your bed or bunk!

Aug7/09 - Sư Cô Tịnh Quan tên thật là Minh Nguyễn, đến nước Mỹ năm 1975, hiện đang trụ trì tại Tu Viện Quan Âm Redlands, California. Sư Cô bắt đầu đi tu vào năm 1989, đến năm 1999 Sư Cô trở lại trường và Sư Cô đã đạt được bằng Tiến Sĩ Phật Học vào năm 2007. Nhân dịp Sư Cô đến Halifax, chúng tôi xin mời tất cả các quý vị Phật Tử và đồng bào đến, để cùng nhau cầu nguyện cho sự an lành của gia đình mình va nhân loại.

Aug1/09 - chahanhFather Hanh (Cha Hanh) will be visiting us from Newfoundland and will be holding a traditional Catholic mass on Sunday August 9 at 4pm. All are welcome to join in the service to be conducted in Vietnamese. There is a potluck supper after the service so bring your specialty dish and give a warm welcome to Cha Hanh. More details here.

July28/09 - The Vietnamese Association of Nova Scotia will be holding its annual Family Picnic this Sunday August 2nd at Oakfield Provincial Park. Please come prepared to have fun with your family and friends! RAIN DATE: MONDAY AUGUST 3rd

Jul6/09 - We are very pleased to announce that we have hired three students to work for the association this summer. Kayla, Keith and Nhi will be tasked with planning different activities that will bring children, youth and adults together for an exciting and fun-filled summer. We encourage all to come out to their events and to contact them if you have any comments and/or questions. They can be found on Facebook, or by emailing vietyouth2009@gmail.com.

Jul4/09 - girlsQuite a large number of community members were able to join our group of dancers to Yarmouth where they performed at the Tri-County Multicultural Festival. They shone on stage once again with their ribbon dance and flower dance. Thanks to these beautiful girls who represent our culture so well, to all those who came out to support them, and to the Yarmouth families who welcomed and fed us to the fullest!

Jun30/09 - multifestMany thanks to all the volunteers who helped us with the multicultural festival this year. Our food was a crowd pleaser, and our girls graced the audience with their spring dance. Overall a successful event thanks to your continuing support!

May19/09 - The deadline for applications for the University/College Student Worker has been extended to May 26.

May13/09 - summerjob09We have once again been awarded funding through the Canada Summer Jobs program from Service Canda to hire Summer Student Workers. The deadline is fast approaching for university/college students! And even though the deadline for high school students is several weeks away, we would ask that they contact us with their intention to apply asap. Details and deadlines here. Make the most of your summer break!

Jan26/09 - Chúc Mừng Năm Mới! We thank all who came out to celebrate the Year of the Water Buffalo with us. Special thanks to everyone who helped with the amazing performances, delicious food, and beautiful decorations. It was truly a night to remember! Thanks again to Minh for taking pictures of the event!

Jan7/09 - ALL VLC STUDENTS are requested to attend classes for the following two Sundays, Jan 11th and Jan 18th from 1pm-4pm to practice their performances for the Tet Festival. See you there!

Jan1/09 - tet2009We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the Lunar New Year. There will be lion dances, cultural performances, prizes and ending with karaoke/open floor dance. Foods and drinks will be provided by the Association for a small fee. It will be a fun time so bring your family and friends and celebrate the Year of the Water Buffalo with us on Saturday January 24, 2009 from 5pm-11pm at St Theresa's Church Hall.
